Privacy Policy
Last updated: March 30, 2026
Smart Job Search Assistant ("we", "our", or "the Extension") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to provide our service:
- Job listing data: When you visit a job listing page, the Extension reads publicly available content (job title, company name, salary, etc.) from the page to display insights in the sidebar. This data is processed locally in your browser or via secure API calls and is not stored on our servers.
- Extension settings: Your preferences (country, display mode, visible sections) are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API.
- License key (Pro users): If you purchase a Pro plan, your license key is stored locally and validated via our server to verify your subscription status.
2. Information We Do NOT Collect
- We do not collect your browsing history.
- We do not track which job listings you view.
- We do not store personal information such as your name, email, or resume.
- We do not use cookies or tracking pixels.
- We do not sell or share any data with third parties.
3. Third-Party Services
The Extension may fetch publicly available data from third-party sources such as Glassdoor, AmbitionBox, and other job-related platforms to provide company ratings, salary insights, and reviews. These requests are made anonymously and do not include any personal information.
Pro users' AI-powered analysis features use secure API calls. Only the job listing content visible on the page is sent for processing — no personal data is included.
4. Data Storage
All user preferences and settings are stored locally on your device using the Chrome Extension Storage API. We do not maintain any external database of user data.
5. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect data transmitted via our services. All API communications use HTTPS encryption. Since we do not store personal data on our servers, the risk of data breaches affecting your personal information is minimal.
6. Children's Privacy
Our Extension is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
